For the last five years we have held an annual SONG membership meeting at Gaycation because it is our largest membership gathering of the year. Many of you have dutifully attended, even with the POOL calling your names (thank you!), and together we have worked there to build the power and kinship of SONG. Our shared imperative to our region and to the legacy of southern LGBTQ multi-racial organizing has grown our membership and we are in need of more focused time and space to come together to assess both our collective strengths, weak points or softspots, and what we are positioned to do and move as an organization. The scale of SONG’s work, the breadth of our membership, and the urgency of the time demands that we come together face to face to fortify our spirits, see each others faces, reflect on the moment, and uplink our local experiences and organizing with a broader regional understanding. As the Trump regime rolls out its draconian agenda, our ability to orient, coordinate, and coalesce around shared values, shared vision, and shared strategies becomes ever more critical. In March, we’re bringing together 100 members who want to turn up with SONG both locally and regionally. Whether you are a new SONG member or Forever SONG family, if you want to move strategies, organizing, culture, and action in lockstep with the SONG formation then this is the membership gathering for you. Together we’ll imagine and enact on possibilities and plans to protect and defend our communities and to build sanctuary for southern towns and cities so we can live free from fear.
